On August 18 the composition of NIHON SUPERIOR’s patented lead-free solder SN100C was listed as Alloy No. 403 in ISO 9453:2014

 

A patent for this composition was registered first in Taiwan in 2000. The composition was subsequently registered in 22 countries and regions including the Japan, the United States and the European Union. Nihon Superior licensed that patent to many companies so that the alloy could be manufactured and be readily available throughout the world. SN100C is now available from 26 licensees and sublicensees.

 

SN100C is lead-free solder with a composition Tin-0.7wt% Copper-0.05% Nickel + Germanium. It was developed independently by NIHON SUPERIOR as result of systematic research on the optimiztion of the peformance of a of lead-free solder alloy that awas also silver-free. Since its launch in 1998 its popularity has grown and it is now used in large quantities all around the world tp become one of the standard lead-free solder alloys on which the global electronics industry relies for cost-effective assembly of reliable circuitry. It is because of its widespread recognition and use that the ISO agreed that it should be listed in its standard for solder alloys.
